Account Verification — What You Need to Know

Updated this week

Why Does Novig Require Verification?

Novig requires identity verification to comply with regulatory requirements and to protect your account. Verification ensures that only you can access your account and redeem funds.

What Documents Are Accepted

Novig accepts the following forms of identification for verification: a US-based driver's license, a US-based state ID, or a passport. Documents must be current and not expired. The name on your document must match the name on your Novig account exactly.

How to Complete Verification

Verification is completed during signup. You'll be asked to provide your personal information, including your phone number and date of birth; and asked to confirm your name, date of birth, address, and the last four digits of your SSN. If the information you enter is correct and matches public records, verification is typically instant.

What If My Verification Fails?

If your verification is not going through, check that: the information you entered matches your official records exactly (name spelling, address, date of birth), you are using an accepted document type (US driver's license, US state ID, or passport), and your document is not expired. Common issues include mismatched names (e.g., a nickname instead of your legal name) or an outdated address. If you continue to have trouble, reach out through the chat with details about the error you're seeing so we can help. If the issue persists due to technical glitches, try closing and reopening the app to refresh its functionality. If that doesn't work, consider deleting and reinstalling the Novig app. After reinstalling, sign back in and retry the verification process.

Re-Verification

Novig may occasionally require re-verification for security or regulatory purposes. If you receive an "ACTION REQUIRED" email or notification asking you to re-verify, follow the instructions provided. Re-verification is required to continue using redemption features.

Phone and Email Verification

Your phone number and email address must be verified during signup. If you're not receiving the verification code, check your spam or junk folder (for email codes), make sure you entered the correct phone number or email address, and wait at least 60 seconds before requesting a new code. For phone verification, ensure your phone can receive SMS messages and is not blocking messages from short codes. Some VoIP numbers may not be supported.
